Founder calls for complete patient support following bariatric surgery
Obesity is on course to affect close to 40 per cent of adults globally by 2035. Against this alarming backdrop, Buşra Nur Özger, founder of Nur Ozger Health, argues that bariatric surgery is only the beginning and should be complemented with broader aftercare that strengthens both physical recovery and mental health.
Although the operation is often life-changing, Özger insists that patients face an ongoing journey requiring lifestyle change, aesthetic interventions, and emotional guidance. Having endured more than twenty years of weight struggles before choosing surgery herself, she has transformed her personal story into a source of guidance, helping more than 3,500 people so far.
With over 800 million people currently living with obesity, the global picture is stark. The figure is expected to rise further, with 35 per cent of women and 39 per cent of men predicted to be obese by 2035. Health authorities, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), alongside governments, are intensifying prevention and treatment strategies.
